When I began freelancing on Upwork, my goal was to earn money to cover business capital and bills. It was great. But it wasn't all roses and sunshine (like most things in life). I went through some really hard times on the platform π₯Ί Let's face it; the competition is fierceπ«. It seems like everyone can do what you do and do it better, so how are you supposed to stand out? π€·♀️ π€¦♀️ The answer: You need to think outside the box and make yourself stand out. But how are you supposed to do that in a world where clients want to work with "professionals" who've been in the industry for 10 years? π¬ πππ«π ππ«π π¬π¨π¦π π¬πππ«πππ¬ π π₯πππ«π§ππ π Create a Killer Profile: The first step to succeeding on Upwork is creating a killer profile. And I mean killer. You need to showcase yourself in the best light possible, highlight your strengths and emphasize on what you can offer to address your client's pain point. Use a professional photo and add all relevant skills. π Set yourself apart from the competition: Freelancing is tough. There are millions of freelancers on Upwork who compete for clients. So, you need to stand out to succeed. That's why you need to niche down. Don't do what everyone else is doing. Are you a writer? Don't just be a writer on #Upwork. Niche down. Be a Tech writer, SEO writer, etc. (likewise other professions). It'll go a long way in adding to your credibility as an expert in that field. π Don't be scared of starting small: This is what nobody tells you about. You can make great bucks on Upwork but might not be lucky to hit it big when you are new. I started very small. Larger project recruiters require a good amount of experience, and unfortunately, that's something most new freelancers don't have. Smaller projects are often ideal for starting and getting reviews, too — win-win. π Write killer proposals. (This will be a full post on its own later) Your proposal is the most important element that can win or lose the project. It's crucial that you write a high-quality, well-thought out proposal that convinces the client to hire you. π¦ Please, don't use generic proposals. Don't just talk about yourself. Focus on the client. π Start with a punchy opening line. Give a possible solution to the client's problem. How can you help deliver that solution, and what should the client expect? Use bullet points to make it more readable. Add samples of your previous work that are relevant to the proposal. And be sure to answer all the questions carefully with details. π¦ Make Your Clients Happy. No one comes back if they don't like your work. So, give it your best. Remember, it's okay when nothing seems to work yet. I know it's tempting but Don't give up... It'll definitely click π€ Did you get any value? Then, it's time to get to work.❤️ #freelancing #questwithgoodness #career
